Would be a pretty strange move considering what the Rangers did at the deadline last year.

It's not like the rangers to target an inconsistent streaky goal scorer who's just leaving his prime..... Oh wait |

Ooh the Rangers are turning up the heat!
Ooh they are getting hot now! They might have made a phone call now.
I have evidence they have had internal discussions over takeout.
One source has told me that the Rangers haven't been this serious about getting an overpriced player on the decline since Brad Richards.
Ooh smokin those Rangers goin after that Pacchy
Nothins hotter than that LOL
Disclaimer - the GM is on a family vacation... but they may nor not still be interested; depending on whether or not a deal is made with another team. |

Pacioretty is a conundrum.
For example, despite playing less games than everyone before him, and despite a brutal 2017-18 season Pacioretty has scored the 10th most goals in the NHL the past 5 years. He is among the leagues best scorers and is still south of 30. he does not have an attitude, is a team guy and is good in his community. Despite this, mos people think that pacioretty has absolutely no trade value.
If Brad Marchand, or Blake Wheeler or Claude Giroux went on the market, all of which are older and have produced less, then we'd be talking about how only Sjkei wouldn't be anywhere near enough.
I am not a fan of PAtch, quite frankly I'd like to see him dealt but why is his value perceived as lower than players he is younger than and players he has outscored? |

No.
Why would the rangers offer anything of real value for patches? |

So how come a week or two ago we had the Hamius sweeps, he was apparently going to the Leafs. But the Preds sign him and it's no news? |

I think there are a few things that bring his value down. Last season hurt. Only one year left on his below market value contract and now he is seeking somewhere in the $7mil/yr range on a long term deal. That hurts. The fact that the entire league knows the HABS will not re-sign him and he will be a FA in a year hurts. MB has basically painted himself into a corner and everyone knows it. |
